I had this weird dream last night, and now I can't eat meat? I've never had this happen before - what gives?
Background: White male, 33 years old, no wife or children. College student. Heterosexual.
It was a very distrubing dream. Basically, in my dream, a man had murdered an old woman. The man talked about how he used some sort of lime to remove the meat from the bones, which liquified over time. Then, he said that he mixed the liquid meat with a milk shake mix in a blender and drank it. He said "it actually tasted kind of good."
When I woke up, I had the most terrible taste in my mouth that I have ever had in my mouth in my life. The taste in my mouth tasted just like spoiled meat. Now, I cannot stand the thought of eating meat. Any meat. I tried to eat a frozen lasagne for lunch, and I couldn't eat it because it reminded me of those images in my dream. I threw it out. The smell was putrid.
I've never had any dream affect me quite this way. What gives? How can this be explained from a psychological point of view?

You may just be ruminating about the life cycle process. In most instances, that process runs a definitive course and we return to a non-living natural state after a few years of productive consciousness.
You may be thinking that this process can be disrupted at any time, and some of us will not be able to experience this full cycle.
You may be thinking that you are missing out on some aspects of an idealized perception of a perfect life, and are lamenting that process.
The disgust you feel may be about your life's path rather than the symbolic ritual in your dream.
