I'm not sure what kitchen appliance I need to make ingredients into pastes?
I've begun to make a lot of curries and it often needs onions, garlic, ginger and other ingredients like cashew nuts being ground into pastes. I want to buy some sort of processor to make my life easier, but I'm not sure if I should buy a food processor or a blender. Or if a mini chopper might even do the job.
I would also like something that could grind dried spices to a powder if possible. I don't want to spend too much though. I've been looking at maybe getting the kenwood mini chopper and a handheld spice mill, but I'm not sure if I should get a blender with mill attachment instead, or even if a food processor will offer all these things and more! Please help.
A stick blender & a regular blender. The stick blenders are great for making pastes. You might also consider buying a mortar & pestle for grinding nuts etc.

It'll take a little longer and be more tiring, but I'm all for making things the traditional way. I'm certain the first person who made hummus didn't have a blender
